PROFILE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Jayanta Singh Roy, current Chairperson and Professor in the Department of Archaeology at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Mr. Roy spent his childhood at Baniachong in Habiganj district, Sylhet. He has obtained BA in Archaeology and MA in Archaeology from Department of Archaeology, Jahangirnagar University. He has also awarded MPhil and PhD degree from the same department. Mr. Roy is interested on prehistory of fossil wood artifacts of Bangladesh, Southeast and South Asia. He is one of the most pioneer researchers in the field of Prehistoric Archaeology of Bangladesh. Since 1998, he conducted archaeological exploration, surface scraping and exploratory excavation in various hilly areas of South East part of Bangladesh and discovered various locations of prehistoric archaeological records. He also collected very unique fossil wood artifacts which are now deposited at the Department of Archaeology of Jahangirnagar University and published several research papers in various reputed journals.
